Music should be available to everyone.
Learning music often requires access to lessons. Our goal is to make those lessons accessible by connecting Brookline middle school musicians with BHS students who were once in their shoes.

How am I paired?
Students and mentors are paired based on instrument and ability.
Why should I apply?
As a student, you learn about the basics of music, and form connections with high schoolers for free. As a mentor, teaching is one of the best ways of learning. Also, you gain volunteer hours.

Hi! I'm Eli, a junior at Brookline High School. I play both the French horn and the trumpet, and am in NEC prep outside of school! In school, I'm in band, and Advanced Chamber Orchestra, and took AP Music Theory.
Outside of music, I play baseball for the BHS team, and help out coaching at the local club team. I also love to sail!
My first ever lessons were through this program, and it's what gave me the basic fundamentals, knowledge, and interest in music. It's now become one of the biggest parts of my life!

My name is Mark, and I'm a Junior at Brookline High. I play clarinet, saxophone, and piano, and I'm currently learning how to play the guitar. I have played for Brookline High's Advanced Chamber Orchestra, Music Collective, and Concert Band, and outside of school I participate in NEC's preparatory ensembles. I also performed with the Boston Ballet Next Generation Orchestra, accompanying high school and collegiate ballet dancers in the pit of the Citizens Bank Opera House.
At school I swim for our Varsity team, and I am a co-leader of the Chess Club. My all-time favorite activity is skiing, so I always look forward to the Winter season.
I currently teach clarinet lessons, and the most rewarding part is seeing my students' satisfaction as they recognize their own progress.
Program History
Formerly known as the Brookline Music Program, this program started creating opportunities in 2017. Since then, we've transferred leadership many times as our leaders graduated. In the past, the program has had end of year concerts, creating a fun, inclusive environment.
Come Work With Us!
Students
If you/your child are interested in participating in the Brookline Peer Music Program (BPM), please click the button below and fill out the application. We can't wait to work with you! The BPM is currently only accepting students grades 4-8.
Mentors
Are you a high school student in the Brookline area who is interested in being a mentor for an elementary/middle school student? If so, please fill out the application! We would love to work with you.
How does it work?
Once you fill out your form, the BPM team will review your application, then email you regarding your status.
Once we find a pairing, both the mentor and the student (family) will be notified, then connected. This is not an instant process, but feel free to email for a status update! Then, within the pairing, you will agree upon a day of the week, time, and location (usually the student's home).
That's it!
